Gathering for Migrants’ Rights III

28.8.2014

Join us in discussing migrants’ rights on Saturday 13th of September 2014, 1 pm – 6 pm at Luckan (Simonkatu 8)!

During the event, Free Movement Network will tell about its activities. We then want to discuss together how migrants’ and refugees’ rights should be improved. What can we do to achieve this goal?

Migrants in Finland have to deal with a variety of problems regarding the residence permit bureaucracy or work and income. This invitation is for all those who themselves have faced these problems, or those who otherwise find these questions important.

There are plans to abolish the temporary permit system that allows asylum seekers to regularize their situation. Family re-unification of refugees have thus been made almost impossible. Finland deports nowadays asylum seekers also to those other EU countries that have no functioning asylum system.

Many foreigners have difficulties to regularize their position because of the bureaucratic rules even if they have a job. For some migrants it is impossible to find a job, or job income is not enough to live on. Many have problems finding access to housing.

All who wish to improve the rights of migrants are most warmly welcome. We believe that by sharing experiences and by working together we can change the unfair policies.

Welcome!
